Message When you pull the motor.. it is easier to..

-FAN..Unbolt the FAN from the clutch.. Rather than take the pulley off.

-ALTERNATOR ...disconnect the electrical harness from inner fender instead of removing alternator or taking connections off alternator.

-POWER STEERING PUMP... disconnect the hoses from the pump. Don't take pump off engine.. somtimes its a PITA to get it lined back up correctly.

- AIR CONDITIONING..If you dont want to break open lines (which I dont recommend breaking open) Either find the spot to reach the bolts on the back side with extension and swivel.. OR... use a stubby 14mm and a pry bar to reach the bolts. You dont need to re-install the one on back of AC that is difficult to take off.

-EGR Delete it while engine is out.

- COOLANT BYPASS Do the coolant bypass while you have the motor pulled. It makes taking the plenum off a breeze after its deleted.

-DETONATION SENSORReplace the Detonation sensor and its harness... You can either take off the upper/lower plenum or get at it from rear of motor .. Replace it in the correct spot.. Dont' bother "saving time" if you have the motor pulled and do the relocation.

-DRIVE SHAFTDisconnect drive shaft from the differential.. I believe its M10 sized SHCS (Socket head cap screws)... I think there are 6 of them, mark the driveshaft to be safe.

REMOVE THE DIPSTICKIf you remove oil pan.. Make sure you take dipstick out so that you do not pinch the dipstick when putting oil pan back on and you wont realize untill the motor is IN the car again.

Get a good set of little O-ring pick's etc.. Old dentist pics work well for helping you take off the wire clips,

Get a good telescopic magnet, you'll need it.

Replace everything you can afford.. and remember its not always about just getting performance parts.. Replace stock OEM parts too.

There may be some things that I am forgetting but I am sure other members will chime in.

Get a copy of the FSM or print out some from the website [ http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi ]

The tech article in TECH is not too bad.. it will be helpful for your first pull.

If you need new OEM parts.. I suggest Bernie as he is often online and can get your stuff out to you FAST. He also carries the EGR delete kits.

Good luck
